Add, subtract, multiply, and divide integers practice with solution 6th Grade

With the hope that your kids can already differentiate between a positive and negative number, we will now encourage them to engage and enhance their integers skills as they add, subtract, multiply, and divide integers; practice with solution 6th Grade.

Also, after solving all our thrilling integer activities, your kids will become experts in evaluating plenty of math expressions and solving real-life situations using integer operations.

However, to begin the solving process, they must master the rules that we use when adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing integers. And yes! They can only achieve this if they have constant or day-to-day practice with this outstanding resource.

Let's now find out the rules for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of integers.

Integers rules for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Hey, kiddos! Below are Integers rules for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Adding integers:

  • If the signs are the same, add and keep the same sign.

  • If the signs are different, subtract the numbers and use the sign.

Subtracting integers: (Keep-change-change)

When subtracting integers, you need to apply the Keep-change-change rule, which means that you should;

  • Keep the first number and its sign the way it is, then

  • Change subtraction to addition, and then

  • Change the sign of the second number.

Once you have applied the rules above, follow the rules for adding integers.

Multiplying and dividing integers:

  • If the signs are the same, go on to add or divide normally, but your answer will be positive.

  • If the signs are different, multiply or divide normally, but your answer will be negative.
